Today’s hair tutorial is the ultimate guide on how to match your hairstyle to your neckline. I’m walking you through five different necklines and the easy hairstyles I love pairing with each one. This video includes step-by-step tutorials for easy updos, claw clip hairstyles, sleek ponytails, and romantic half-up looks. These techniques work beautifully as hairstyles for long hair or medium hair hairstyles, and even shorter or finer hair with the help of a few clip-in extensions.

Whether you’re looking for wedding hair, prom hairstyles, or tips for work and everyday styling, these combinations help create a more balanced, effortless look. And remember, rules are meant to be broken, so have fun! This is more of a guideline on how to match your hairstyle to your neckline.

I’ll show you how to add fullness to finer hair using my favourite clip-in extensions to add volume and fullness to finer hair.

Products Used: Luxy Hair Seamless Clip-In Extensions in Bronde Balayage (I’ve used these over for 10 years – they blend beautifully) (code AGABOURY to save): https://go.shopmy.us/p-41385063

Claw Clip French Twist

  1. Loosely gather your hair into a low ponytail.
  2. Wrap your ponytail up and over your pointer and middle fingers, twisting them once or twice as you bring them to the top of your head.
  3. Next, twist your ends and bring them up, tucking them underneath, and then secure with a claw clip.
  4. Metal ones hold really well all day.
  5. And then I add a couple bobby pins at the top just to help hold the shape.

Updo Hairstyle

  1. Since the bun will be sitting at temple height, clip in your two three clip wefts right at your crown.
  2. Next, take a mix of light hold gel with oil – I also love to use a hair mask, and just work it all through your hair.
  3. Use a bore bristle brush to smooth everything back, making sure not to forget the hair at your neckline.
  4. And if you wanted to look extra polished, you could spray some hairspray and then brush it through.
  5. Now, secure your hair into a tight ponytail.
  6. Apply a little oil or mask through the lengths, and then divide the hair into three sections.
  7. Create a tight a braid, I’m robe braiding all the way to the ends.
  8. Once secured, wrap your braid clockwise around the base.
  9. If your braid is long like mine, continue wrapping underneath itself.
  10. Pin your ends away first. And then add a few more French pins to lock it into place.

French Twist

  1. Loosely gather your hair into a low ponytail.
  2. And then wrap your ponytail up and over your pointer and middle fingers, twisting them once or twice as you bring them to the top of your head.
  3. Twist your ends and bring them up, tucking them underneath, and secure with a french pin.
  4. Add a few pins along the twist if you need.

Ponytail

  1. Create a side part.
  2. Add styling cream, or a hair mask to smooth the hair.
  3. Brush everything back nice and smooth
  4. Secure into a low ponytail.
  5. Then add a ponytail cuff to dress up the style.
  6. This ponytail looks much more voluminous with the extra hair.

Claw Clip Updo

  1. Start by placing your thumbs in front of your ears and trace upwards to the top of the crown of your head.
  2. Section off the top of your hair.
  3. Smooth it back with your hands for a soft finish.
  4. Next, divide the top section in half, a left and a right.
  5. Cross the right section over the left.
  6. Then bring the left section up towards the top of your head, keeping everything tight.
  7. Grab your claw clip with your left hand and open it nice and wide, and secure it right where the two sections cross.
  8. Flip your top ponytail down and gently fan it over the clip.
