In today’s hair tutorial, I’m sharing how to create the high bun updo hairstyle, my favourite hairstyle at the moment! This easy hairstyle is perfect for weddings, proms, bridal, bridesmaids, wedding guests, formal, or as a simple everyday hairstyle. This high bun hairstyle, also referred to as the Kim K updo, is a great last-minute option and is the perfect hairstyle for long and medium hair lengths.
To recreate this hairstyle, apply your favourite texture spray throughout, gather your hair into a low ponytail and pull out face-framing pieces. Tightly hold the base of your ponytail with your left hand, and with your right tightly twist your ponytail counterclockwise two times and bring it to the top of your head. Hold with your left hand, and use your right hand to tuck your twist making sure it’s tight. To secure, start at the bottom and slide the end of your pins through your twist, out to the right, push them against your head and slide them into the left. Repeat at least 5 times to make sure it’s secure. For your ends, gently re-twist them if they have come undone, and loosely wrap them counterclockwise to create a bun shape, you want the bun to sit high, right on top of your crown so you can see it from the front. Bring your ends to the right of your twist and pull out any loose layers to add to the undone look. Use bobby pins to secure your ends to the right side of your twist, and to secure the bun at the top of your head.
