Today’s easy hair tutorial is how to French braid your own hair. This easy braided ponytail hairstyle is perfect for prom, bridal, or as an easy wedding hairstyle. Believe me when I say this French braid tutorial is easier than it looks and will create the most beautiful ponytail just in time for spring and summer. This braided hairstyle is perfect for everyone with medium hair or as a hairstyle for long hair.
How to French Braid Your Own Hair
- Section off the hair at the crown of your head.
- Divide this section into three equal pieces.
- Cross the right piece over the middle piece, transferring it from your right hand to your left hand.
- Cross the left piece over the middle piece, transferring it into your right hand.
- Trace a small section of hair from your part towards the right piece, combining them.
- Cross the combined section over the middle piece, untangling the ends as you go.
- Repeat on the left side, tracing a small section of hair, combining it with the left piece, and crossing it over the middle.
- Continue adding small sections of hair to the outside pieces as you braid. I did a total of three to create a softer look.
- Once you reach your neck and have gathered all your hair, continue with a regular 3-strand braid until you reach your ends.
- Secure the end of the braid with a hair elastic.
- Soften the style by gently pulling on the sides and crown of the braid.
- Smooth away any frizz with a bit of hair oil and hairspray.
